Elephantitis of the Rock

Take the greatest orgasm you've ever had, add 1991 Jennifer Connelly (or whatever your male/transexual/animalized counterpart would be), then imagine it happened during a perpetual free fall. I didn't feel quite THAT good about the Devils' win over the Rangers last night, but it was pretty close.

It was great to see for a few reasons:
-The Rangers and Devils are passing each other going in opposite directions as the season progresses. The Devils are finally healthy (sans Marty) and have held it together through a very trying first three months. They are four points behind the Rangers, but have four games in hand on them. The Rangers are showing that their shootout wins are all that separate them from being a mediocre team. It's interesting how their top players are performing like the top Devils of last year - poorly.
-That MSG crowd was fired up and fucking DRUNK. I'm very glad to have stayed home, because my Christ, there must have been blood last night. We're talking about people with a number of holidays off, blowing off Christmas steam by getting to the Blarney Stone at 2PM and never looking back. I love it when these people are stunted by their crappy team's play. Drunken confusion always = HILARIOUS (when it's not me).
-The Devils definitely needed this win. They haven't won at the Garden for way too long, but it was also a good test - the loss to Pittsburgh the night before hurt, and a win against the Blues this week would mean little, since they're awful. This win was a great morale boost.

Also, Rangers commentary is un-fucking-watchable. The post show is literally corrosive. This is to say, if you were to touch your screen during this broadcast, your hands would quickly resemble stumps, like that guy in the 1986 Fly remake. How MSG got FCC approval to broadcast actual mutant fly vomit is beyond me.

Clemmenson was no joke during that 5 on 3. I was very, very proud of the guy. He showed real heart, a touch of playoff poise, like me at karaoke - a true gentleman.

I am sad to report that not a single Rangers fan decided to shoot Mike Motteau in the neck with a blow dart tipped with elephant tranquilizer. He actually plays like that every sinlge game.

"I Don't Care" by Fallout Boy...

...is very funny when my brother sings it in Rock Band.

Missed last night's game, and it sounds like I didn't miss much. Glad to hear attendance was high, there's almost always a spike this time of year. Getting pretty psyched about the game against the Rags tonight, I'll have some updated thoughts later on.

On a sad note, Mike Motteau is scheduled to play tonight.

Grundle.

That was a really, really good game. Too bad the Devils lost.

Both teams had very few quality scoring chances, and Rupp and Holik were there with some huge hits. I do wonder what will become of Rolston. He's improving, so where does he end up line-wise? Whatever, the game really just came down to that one goal Clemmenson gave up early in the third. With all the (deserved) talk of it feeling like a playoff game, it's interesting to think of how it could've gone with Marty in net. (considers) AH, there we go...warm tummy fuzzies.

Savard's no joke.

There were a ton of Bruins fans, and almost all were pretty awesome. Many folks drove down for the game, a lot of positive comments about the arena, which is always nice. One crew I saw had a bunch of Cam Neely shirts on, I thought that was neat. NEAT!

I was scolded at the game for doing wrestling impersonations with some drunk fans, because we weren't "paying attention to the game". This assertion was false and not at all in the spirit of Christmas.

NJ Devil did NOT do a rail slide, and Boston scored immediately after. Stupid fucking mascot.

My friend and I actually sat in our assigned seats for the first time this season, at least until we were lured by the siren's call of our usual motley section 209. It felt very odd, yet comforting, like a summer home where one goes to relax and possibly quilt. I should learn to quilt just to do so at a hockey game.

BOOZE TALLY

Pre-game:
3 Rudy Red beers
several shots of Jim Bean

Mid-game:
1 Miller Lite
2 Bass Ales

Post-game:
several more shots of Jim Bean
1 Guinness
1 shot Jager
1 shot Jameson

Mike Motteau still played. Very upsetting.

Powderstache

I really like the Boston Bruins. I can't help it, they're just a franchise I've always dug. Bobby Orr's my favorite player of all-time, and they've got a decent fan base (when they're not too busy being awful baseball fans).

Tonight, I hate them. They play the Devils on Versus, and both teams have been sick this past month. Don Koharski is one of tonight's refs, and I might just have to bring some donuts to the game for fat ole' #12.

Madden should be back in tonight, and Mike Motteau is still playing hockey. I like one of those facts.

Go Devils!

Hockey hockey hockey! OI OI OI!

"From an unknown land and through distant skies came a winged warrior. Nothing remained sacred, no one was safe from the Hellion as it uttered its battle cry...Screaming for Vengeance."

I've decided to post random musings and observations as a New Jersey Devils fan living in Brooklyn. I'll probably give up on it after REALLY getting into 90210.

From AIM:

Me: everyone online is buzzing about the slutty new holiday gear the ice skanks are rocking
Me: something to look forward to for tomorrow's game
Me: I just love that the ice skanks get even SLUTTIER for Xmas
My Brother: hahaha
My Brother: Christ wants it that way
Me: Jesus was born for MORE MIDRIFF AND ASS
Me: Jesus: "I have come here to stare at underboob cleavage and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum."
